This list is a compilation of cemeteries listed in the Michigan Cemetery Atlas published by the Michigan State Library. As well as volunteers, who have combed the area (some as early as the 1970’s) looking for “elusive cemeteries”. Unfortunately, some of these cemeteries no longer exist.
We ask that you respect the gravesites as well as the landowner’s rights, be it township, church or privately owned. Unless it is a public cemetery, you should always ask for permission to enter the grounds of a cemetery or burial ground. In some cases, the landowner may not want “visitors of any sort” If you would like to contact a private cemetery please ask the BCGS for the name of a contact person, most of them are more than willing to work with relatives of the loved ones interred in the cemetery.
